Entrepreneurial Journalists of Philadelphia

The Revolution Starts Here

Subway Wall Productions will be a music production company with an
attached magazine that focuses on street musicians. Every day
commuters are serenaded by amateur musicians in Market East
and Suburban stations. In addition to those individuals who
make a living by collection donations in a hat while wailing
Louis Armstrong on Walnut Street, these subway musicians will
now have a forum to tell their story, play their music and
interact with one another. The magazine will have musician
profiles, places for concert venue reviews and advertisements,
a community chat segment and more. The website will have all
that information as well as video-profiles of local musicians.

Anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions? Criticisms?

I am intrigued. But I can't help wonder whether there is an audience for such a mag? Aren't people annoyed enough by the musicians ... won't the mag feel even more like a burden to commuters?

Am I just being a hater?

If the mag was about the underground music scene in general (though Philly-centric), I think that could work. You could write about those performers but without the negative, guilt-laden connotation.

The number of outlets for information about the Philly music scene, I believe, is rather limited. A mag promoting the scene could catch on. It's time people realized the amazing stuff coming out of this city.
